Stuck Up Banana
Oil on canvas
Born in Barcelona, of Catalan parents, Trinidad lived in Spain and Latin America before moving to England where she has now lived for many years. She trained at Central St Martin’s, Putney School of Art and South Thames College and started painting in 1997. In 2003 she resigned her post as Probation Officer to dedicate herself full-time to art.
The interaction of colour is the basis for Trinidad’s work. She is excited by bright, strong colour and the drama created by darkness and light.
Inspired by the Spanish and Dutch Masters, and moved by the colours of Van Gogh, her paintings have been described as “displaying fine technique, and an assured heightened sense of colour and form”.
For Trinidad each painting is a challenge and an adventure. Observation is the key, working with the composition and background, this compels her to paint. Through the use of thin layers of high pigment oil paint, the aim is to render a translucent and luminous painting which gives the viewer the illusion of high realism.
Trinidad’s 2014 sell out ‘Sticky Collection’ gives the appearance of a piece of fruit literally stuck to your wall and completely sold out. As Trinidad says, “This collection explores the possibilities of realism and illusion. It presents very real objects in impossible situations. It’s about using realism to make us believe in the impossible”.
Trinidad has now delivered her latest collection – ‘Elevated’ which is available exclusively through The Art Agency.
